Each month, we build TYCI’s web content around a different theme and our April theme will be SECRETS AND LIES.
What lies, white or full technicolour, have you told in your life? What secrets do you keep and why? How can we relate the theme of “secrets and lies” to our personal lives, or something wider than that?
You could tell us personal stories – embarrassing and funny or heartfelt and heartbreaking. You could interview someone you think is a great secret talent or celebrate the women who have worked undercover in history and present day to create change. You could talk about the upcoming US election or write an opinion piece about the lies we get told by media’ depiction of women and The Beauty Myth.
Content can be written, filmed or presented as an audio recording.
Pitches should be sent to email@example.com. The final copy deadline is Friday 25 March.
HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM ALL OF US AT TYCI!
This year, we are going to be changing up the content TYCI creates. Each month, we will select a different theme, with the content on the website reflecting that theme, and we want to hear from YOU.
Our theme for March will be POWER.
Friday 5th February sees TYCI put on our first show of 2016 at Stereo! Tuff Love will be officially launching their new album which is due for release on January 29 via Lost Map Records. Resort brings together all of the Tuffs’ EPs to date – Junk, Dross and Dregs – in chronological order in one handy CD & vinyl package.
If you think the night couldn’t get any better, then you’re wrong! We are going to be joined by The Vaselines’ Frances McKee who will open the show and Bossy Love will be playing live to get the party started. It’s going to be a Tuff Love sandwich with Frances Mckee on first and Bossy Love on last so that Tuff Love can dance party with everyone after they have finished their set! Remember this is an over 14s gig also so this is a great chance to introduce people to some incredible new music.
We will be continuing the party upstairs for the over 18s in Stereo’s bar! We have TYCI DJ extraordinaire Stacey kicking off proceedings followed by the feisty DJ Sycophantasy (PVC) till the early hours. This is free entry so everyone is welcome!
Tuff Love have chosen our charity raffle in aid of Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice, a charity close to their hearts. You can read more about them here –http://www.ppwh.org.uk
We will also be collecting for Glasgow Women’s Aid. Items we are accepting are shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, sanitary products and any unwanted Xmas toiletry sets! Collections will take place at the TYCI table downstairs. For more info on Glasgow Women’s Aid, please visit – http://
2015 was a pretty epic year for TYCI and we are so happy that the collective has grown so much in only a few years. Thank you for being a part of that and trying to make our little part of the world a better place.
We’ll be going off grid this month to make some plans for where TYCI will go this year but we’ll be back in February with new ideas and bucketloads of enthusiasm. If you need to talk to us before then, we’ll be on our socials (@tyciblog) or firstname.lastname@example.org
TYCI is a not for profit collective run by women. Although we are based in Glasgow, we have an amazing variety of contributors who stretch far and wide across the globe.
We are run entirely by volunteers who generously give up their own time, feelings, ideas, and often money to help us celebrate all things femme.
In the short while that we have been functioning, we have expanded from a small monthly club night, to an international multimedia platform and events series. All of what we do now is formed entirely on passionate people coming forward to lend their own ideas of what they want to see and do with the collective.
We are always looking for more contributors to help broaden the discussion and so if you are ever interested in getting involved in the collective, please do contact us because we would love to hear from you.
You can find us on all the socials @tyciblog or email us on email@example.com
Long time supporters of the collective, this is the only Scottish show on a short run of dates. We are just delighted to have them play our night.
Support comes from our new favourites Bruising
And even better news, this show is 14+!
Doors open at 7pm.
